Make a Statement With Neon

I just purchased this neon statement necklace from J.Crew Factory on sale, and I'm obsessed. I keep wanting to wear it everyday! I love the bright kiwi color. It makes any outfit pop. That's why I chose to wear it with simple leather leggings, a white V-neck, black flats and a denim jacket.

[It was sunny.]

As you can see, Drew decided to get a little artsy with some of these haha! This is just one casual way of styling this fabulous necklace. I'm sure the neon piece will be making many appearances on the blog in the future, seeing as I can't help but keep thinking of different outfits it could go with. Do you have a favorite statement piece you'd just love to wear every day if you could? Please share!

AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT® Intensive Night Cream

The past two weeks I had the chance to test out AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT® Intensive Night Cream courtesy of Influenster, and I love it! I'm not usually one to buy specialty creams and moisturizers; I typically use a daily moisturizer with SPF. But, I gotta say, I really like this night cream. Right before I go to bed I take about a quarter size amount and rub it on my face. Just be careful rubbing it near your eyes because it does sting if you get any too close. Otherwise, the night cream feels light on my skin and not oily at all, which is one of the main things I love about it since I hate heavy moisturizers. When I wake up in the morning, my skin feels baby-bottom soft. Yes, I just used that analogy, but it really does!

The AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT® Intensive Night Cream is made with ACTIVE NATURALS® Total Soy Complex and vitamin B3 to prevent skin from looking discolored, uneven and blotchy. I never had any major problems with discoloration, unevenness and blotchiness, but I did notice that when I woke up in the morning, my skin looked clear and smooth. Also, the jar in the picture looks small, but it certainly will last a long time. A little of the cream goes a long way.

If you're looking for a night cream that feels light on your skin and makes your face feel super soft in the morning, then this is for you. It works especially well with sensitive skin, too. I hope you check it out!

Madewell's Summer Send-Off Shopping Party

Hello everyone! I want to apologize for the lack of posts this past week. With all of the tragic and scary events going on in Boston, I didn't feel it was appropriate to be writing about my favorite fashion trends when there was something much more serious going on. Now that things are winding down and Boston is slowly returning to normalcy, I'm going to start posting again. Thank you all for being patient!

I want to invite you all to an event that I'll be attending at the Madewell shop on Newbury Street (329 Newbury Street)! Boston University's Madewell Ambassadors, Ava Rojo and Monica Mendoza, have kindly invited me to be a special guest at their next shopping event this Thursday, April 25th from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

With the semester coming to an end, treat yourself to a night of shopping at Madewell! Everyone who attends will receive 20% off their entire purchase (you won't want to miss THAT deal!). Plus, the Madewell ladies will be holding an Instagram contest to enter for some amazing prizes including this:

How adorable! All you have to do is try on your favorite Madewell summer look and take an Instagram photo of your outfit with the hashtag #mixwellmadewellBU for a chance to win. I may have to enter this contest if they let me...hehe!

While the contest is going on, we will also have a DJ and sips & sweets (meaning Georgetown Cupcakes so YES you should come). As a special guest I will be giving summer styling advice, as well as revealing my top Madewell picks for the summer months.

This event is open to anyone who's around Boston, so please stop by! You can RSVP here. I hope to see you at the event!

Pray For Boston

I'm sure all of you know by now about the explosions during the Boston Marathon. I'm still shocked by the horror of the whole afternoon and that Boston was the city involved. As many people have said, it feels so much different when something like this happens to your own city. Boston is tough, though, and I've seen and heard of so many acts of kindness that are only making our city stronger.

During the time of the explosions I was watching the marathon in Kenmore Square (about a mile away from Copley Square) when hundreds of policemen sprinted towards the Copley area. It wasn't until my friends and I got a phone call to go home right away that we realized something was seriously wrong. We went back to our dorm to turn on the news and saw the video clip that has been continuously playing for the past couple of days. I couldn't believe it. Then our cell service and cable cut out, which made us even more confused and scared. What made the situation hit really close to home was that the first explosion occurred right in front of the PR firm where I intern, Marlo Marketing/Communications. I knew they were having an office party that day, which I was planning on attending, so my stomach dropped and I prayed that they were all okay. Fortunately, they all are safe and their building has little damage compared to the building next door on the ground level. I can only imagine how the mm/c employees and all others who were lined along Boylston street are feeling now. All I can say is that we are here to support you.

Although, now, it is a warm, sunny day here in Boston, you can still feel a silent somberness hanging in the air. We are all praying for those who were affected by the bombs, especially those who are still being treated in the hospital for injuries or have already passed on. Who ever decided to pick Boston to terrorize clearly did not realize how tough we are. Please pray for Boston.

Spring Wish List

Spring Wish List

Essie Boxer Shorts // Madewell Silk Roll-Sleeve Top // H&M Ballet Pumps // Forever 21 Lace-Paneled A-Line Dress // Essie Marathin // Forever 21 Floral Print Skinny Pants // H&M Flamingo Tank Top // Madewell Linen Studio Sweater // H&M Floral Shirt // Keds x Kate Spade New York Kick Sneaker // ASOS Across Body Bag

This spring I'm really focusing on adding bright colors to my wardrobe. I always find myself wearing blacks, grays and blues with a small pop of color, but now I'm looking to invest in some of the bright and colorful pieces shown above. I'm loving neon greens, corals, seafoam green and bright blue, as you can probably tell from my picks. The key to pulling off bright colors is to buy colorful items with classic silhouettes and structures. That way, each piece fits well and the color/pattern won't overwhelm you.

Just by looking at this collection of spring items I'm getting more excited for warm weather. I can't wait to put together some fun, springy and colorful outfits! Keep checking in for outfit posts soon to come. What is your favorite color for spring clothing? Share below!

Pop of Pink for Spring

This week, with the exception of Wednesday, the weather was in the 50s in Boston! I can feel the warm spring weather rapidly approaching. In the mean time, I decided to put together a spring outfit of pastels that's still warm enough for 50 degree weather. My pink skinny jeans did just the trick to pull together this outfit and make it cheerful enough for spring.

Chambray: BDG (similar) // Sweater: Gap (similar) // Jeans: Gap (similar) // Shoes: Michael Kors // Earrings: Kate Spade

I've still been wearing a lot of dark, wintery colors lately, so I'm so glad I broke out my pink skinnies. Even though it wasn't really warm, I still felt bright and springy.  What is your favorite early spring clothing item? Share below!

Liebster Award: Get To Know Me

If you haven't noticed the badge along the side of my blog already, I am part of the Her Campus Blogger Network, which is a series of blogs written by high school and college students. You should definitely check out the list of blogs for some great reads.

Recently, the HCBN bloggers (and some outside of the network) have been nominating each other for the Liebster Blog Award, and today Regina Bianca nominated me! The Liebster Blog Award is basically a way for fellow bloggers to award each other for being great. If you decide to accept the award, then you must answer the 11 questions the nominator asks. Needless to say, I accept, and you'll get to hear a little bit more about me! Then I will pass on my 11 questions to a few of my favorite blogs from the Boston area.

Here are my answers to Regina's questions:

1. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?

My favorite cartoon was definitely Arthur. I have many memories watching that show after school haha! My mom always thought Arthur was a good role model but DW was a brat. I don't think I could tell the difference, but I did learn that having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card. Remember that? Flashback!

2. What event would you do for the Olympics?

Seeing as I was a competitive dancer all through high school, I guess I would choose gymnastics. Even though I don't like the idea of flipping around, I would love to be best friends with the Fierce Five a.k.a Fab Five.

3. What has value to you, but maybe no one else, and you would never get rid of?

All of the little notes, gifts, trinkets, drawings, wrapping paper and artifacts of me and Drew's relationship. We have so many inside jokes from now since high school, and it's really funny to look back on. I actually have two overflowing shoe boxes of items Drew has given to me (and that's not even everything), and I'm pretty sure he has a whole drawer of things in his desk.

4. What is your biggest pet peeve?

When people don't work to their full potential. It's okay to have lazy days every once in a while, but when it's time to work, whether for school classes, internships or working out, I always expect everyone (including me) to work their butts off. Also, I can't stand when people chew loudly!

5. Who would play you in a movie?

That's a tough one. I would prefer to play myself because I'd love the opportunity to act in a movie, but if anyone, I would want Rachel McAdams to play me because she can be sweet and sassy!

6. If you found out you were royalty, would you step up and be king or queen?

Sure? As long as I got Kate Middleton's closet. :)

7. What is your favorite thing about yourself?

My favorite thing about myself is my eyes. They're very odd-colored--a mix of green, blue, gray and yellow. They actually change depending on whether I'm wearing more blues, grays or greens in my outfit. I also like how my personality forces me to be dedicated in everything I'm passionate about. It drives me to do my best and not let anyone down.

8. Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I had always been curious about it. I would think about starting a blog about all of the style trends, DIYs, recipes and music I love, but I was too afraid to start not knowing specifically what to write about. Then I realized that I would never know if I'd be successful at blogging if I didn't try, so I did! Now, here I am today writing to you all now.

9. If you could have something in unlimited supply, what would it be?

I'm picking more than one thing... water with lemon, heels, J. Crew flannels and homemade chocolate chip cookie brownies.

10. Who is your hero or role model?

My mom and dad. They have taught me the most valuable life lessons. Whenever I'm stuck or unsure of what to do in a situation, I go to them. They almost always have an answer for me, and if not, they always know what to say to make me feel better.

11. What is the one moment in your life where you felt the most accomplished?

Two moments: (1) When I got my first internship for the current spring semester. I felt like all of the hard work done in my classes finally paid off, and I was actually starting to get somewhere in the real world. (2) Whenever someone writes a positive comment on my blog or compliments my blog in person, I always feel like I'm making somewhat of an impact in the blogging world. I alway appreciate those positive comments because it lets me know that somebody is reading (besides my family hehe), and it motivates me to keep blogging!

So that's a little about me. Now for my nominees and questions. I nominate:

Here are your questions:

1. What is your favorite guilty pleasure? (Ex. favorite trashy TV show, food, activity that helps you get through the week)
2. Who is your style icon?
3. Who is your favorite Twitter and/or Instagram follower and why?
4. What do you miss most about being a kid?
5. If you were a nail polish color, what would you be called?
6. If you could only eat one meal forever, what would it be?
7. If you could only keep one book/magazine forever, which one would it be?
8. If you could go out for coffee or a lunch date with anyone in the whole world, who would it be and what would you ask him or her?
9. Why did you start blogging?
10. Who/what inspires you to blog?
11. What is the greatest piece of advice you've ever received and who told you?
