A Look Back at 2013

With 2013 coming to an end, I'm now reflecting on my year. 2013 has brought adventure, happiness, growth and understanding. From the best moments during my abroad experience in London to the worst moments of my home city Boston on Marathon Monday. These experiences continue to shape who I am becoming and how I understand the world, which in turn shapes this blog into what it is today. I can also see how my blog has drastically grown in 2013 as I look at this year's photos. Instead of blabbing about them all, I might as well just show them. Here are my favorite posts and blog moments of the year:

 Quinoa Veggie Fried "Rice"

2013 has treated me too well, but I'm excited for a new year to begin. I still have more things to learn and experience, and I can't wait to see where my life goes for another year. Here's to 2014 and to another year of blogging! Thank you for following along!

Happy New Year! xx

Home for the Holidays

Merry Christmas and thank you for following my blog! I gotta say, as much as London was amazing these past few months, it's good to be home. I've gotten to see some of my favorite friends and family this week, and I get to see even more today. For now, it's hot cocoa, a colorful Christmas tree, opening presents and eating yummy food with the fam. Can't complain! I hope you have a wonderful holiday with friends and family, too! Spend it with the ones you love.

Merry Christmas from All Dressed Up, Everywhere To Go!

Wool Coat featuring SuperDry

Wool Coat featuring SuperDry

The always stylish wool coat is the perfect way to stay warm and look good this winter. This SuperDry gray town coat (worn by Gwen Stefani) is a great option that can be both dressed up and dressed down. For a casual day shopping or lunch date, pair the coat with some skinny jeans, cozy sweater and a pair of fun sneakers. For a fancier occasion, throw it over a cute dress and heeled booties.

I recently purchased a black wool coat that I now wear all the time, whether I'm running errands or going out for the night. The coat really pulls any look together. Be sure to check out SuperDry's grey town coat for one option on a winter wool jacket! Happy winter!

The Last of London

Five minutes of snow in London.
Tea time at Harrods with Mum.
Can you find me?
One last time at the Paul Smith Design Museum exhibit.
Kensington Palace at Christmas time.
 Kensington Palace with Mum.
Last visit to Portobello and scored this hat.
Goodbye London town!

This is the last London Instagrammy Sunday post--so sad! This past week my mum and I spent the week [till Thursday at least] exploring London. We sure packed it all in to four days! We visited Kensington Palace, the National Gallery, the Natural History Museum and the Design Museum to see the Paul Smith exhibit. We also went to tea at Harrods, saw a show and shopped around. The week was so fun, but my legs wanted to kill me every night. I think we walked a marathon each day.

Now I'm back in the US getting in the holiday spirit. As much as I miss London so so much, I'm happy to be home [seriously, my mattress feels like a cloud]. Now on to the holidays!

Happy last minute shopping!

Instagrammy Sunday

 Harry Potter Studios
Wands on wands on wands.
The fam is here!!! [Sorry for the blurriness]
Daniel loves the Pick 'N Mix candy.
Last night together in London!:(

This past week has been an extremely eventful one. First off, it was finals week for me, so I spent the first few days of the week studying and working on papers. Then, I went to Harry Potter Studios with my friend Rachel! It was so cool to see all the sets, props and costumes for the Harry Potter movies. I wouldn't say I'm a fanatic, but I will say that I was Harry for Halloween one year when I was ten years old. Needless to say, the whole experience at the studios was rather nostalgic and special. Now, I want to watch the movies and read the books all over again!

This week was also my last week of my abroad program,  and therefore my last week with my friends in London--so sad! It was so hard to say goodbye, but we had an incredible time in London and traveling through Europe. At least we're lucky enough to say we'll see each other back on the Boston University campus in January! Although I was sad to see my abroad program end, I was excited to see my family again after 4 months…in London!!! Unfortunately my dad and brother left today, but I got to show them all my favorite places and the best tourist attractions. Now my mum and I are here for another four days until I go home. I guess you could say this week has been pretty awesome.
Hope you had a great week! Cheers [as the Brits would say] to a new one!

Holiday Gift Guide: For Her

Holiday Gift Guide: For Her
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

Only a few more weeks till Christmas! Last week we had the Men's Gift Guide, now it's time for the ladies. For girly gifts I usually look at stores such as J.Crew, Gap, Madewell and Urban Outfitters depending on what I'm looking for. J.Crew, Gap and Madewell are good for quality clothing items when I'm willing to spend a little extra, while Urban Outfitters is perfect for some cheaper items and silly gifts. Whether you're shopping for your mom, grandma, girlfriend or best friend, these are the best gifts for your lady:
  • A cozy sweater
  • Leather boots--ankle boots are very popular right now!)
  • Warm outerwear accessories i.e. wool socks and an infinity scarf
  • Leather wallet (*caution* wallets are very personal items, so only buy one for your girl if you know she wants one)
  • Jewelry--I know it's cliche, but some ladies like it.
Aside from these basics, it's always good to think of something personal to give to your leading lady. A woman always appreciates a thoughtful gift (and pretty wrapping paper). For more ideas, head to your girl's favorite store and chances are they'll have a gift guide for some extra help. Happy shopping!

Birthplace of Harry Potter

Instead of an Instagrammy Sunday post today, I decided to write about Edinburgh instead, since that's what I've been doing for most of the week anyways. We're no longer working at our internships, so we had this whole week off except for class. Of course we took it as another travel opportunity and unfortunately our last. I can't believe my semester abroad is coming to an end!

Edinburgh is a beautiful city with so much history. Our first day we went on a walking tour. Our tour guide was awesome and told us some really interesting stories. One being about Maggie Dickson who was publicly executed for cheating on her husband, but when they hung her, she survived and lived for 40 more years! Weird, I know. We also learned about Bobby the dog, which is why the Scotty dog is so popular in Scotland. Bobby was so devoted to its owner John Grey, an Edinburgh watchman, that when he died he would lie by his grave all day and night. The city ends up adopting Bobby so he's not mistaken as a stray dog. The story is so cute!

The second day we explored Edinburgh Castle, which was really cool and very similar to Hogwarts, since that is where J.K. Rowling was inspired to write the Harry Potter books. We also hiked up Arthur's Seat. It was so beautiful and totally reminded me of the hiking paths in P.S. I Love You. The hike was really windy and muddy. I even fell in the mud, but the fresh air and amazing view made it all worth it.

I'm happy to say that our last trip was a success. I still can't believe my next flight will be back to the U.S. I'm excited to go home, but my semester abroad has taught me a lot. Edinburgh was just one sweet ending to an amazing trip.
