Easy Summer Internship Outfits

Last week was my first week of internships, so I thought it appropriate to share some outfit inspiration as I figure out what I'm going to wear. I've never worked an office job during the summer, so I'm pretty new at this, but I do know that I have to prepare for hot and humid train rides, walks to the office and cold office air conditioning. The key to dealing with this is, of course, layers. This step-by-step guide should help you [and me] put together a summer internship outfit in a snap.

Top to Botton (Left to Right): J.Crew Factory Crystal Necklace | Madewell Leather Tote | J.Crew Factory Crystal Necklace | Black D'Orsay Flats | Madewell Holepunch Flats | Madewell Loren Heels | Madewell Lora Heels

Not too hard, right? Pick a bottom, top, dress, layer and accessory. Of course, some of these pieces can be a bit more casual depending on where you're working. Some offices allow jeans; however, the rules still apply whether you have to dress up or down for your internship. Accessories are important in this equation, as well, because they change up your typical office outfit. This way you can wear the same dress but change the necklace and shoe for a different look, for instance.

My one piece of advice is that you can never be too overdressed for an internship position. If you feel any hesitation of dressing too casually for the office, throw on some heels or statement necklace. Otherwise, have fun dressing up for work, and don't be afraid to wear colors and patterns! Do you have any summer internship outfit tricks or items you love? I'd love to hear in the comments!

Daisy Daze

New Look Daisy Lace Top via ASOS | LOFT Jacket (similar) | American Eagle Jeans (similar) | Sanuk Flip Flops | Ray Ban Sunglasses | Kate Spade Watch

I apologize for the brief hiatus on my blog. The past two weeks I've been finishing up finals, packing up to move home, and relaxing from the semester. Now I will be posting more frequently! A couple weeks ago I ordered this New Look daisy lace top on ASOS and have worn it a ton already. The top looks cute with shorts, jeans, skirts, etc. on its own or under a light jacket. I recently wore it with hot pink cut-offs and a denim jacket at the beach--yes the beach already! Best of all, the white daisy-print lace just screams spring and summer.

Another summer must-have item I'm loving are my Sanuk flip flops; they are the most comfortable things ever because the sandal is made out of yoga mat material. I feel like I'm walking on clouds everywhere I go. Plus, they have arch support (or at least, better than most flip flops), so they're easy to walk in on cement sidewalks and such. With the warm weather we've been having the past few days I've been wearing them pretty much daily.

What pieces are you pulling out of your closet for this warm weather?

My Favorite Influenster Vox Box Products

Of the products I received to try from my Influenster Uni Vox Box, my favorites were the Rimmel London Stay Matte mousse foundation, NYC Expert Last lipstick in Forever Fuchsia and Pilot Acroball PureWhite pen (see a complete list of the products in the box here). Read all about them below!

Pilot Acroball Pen

The past few hours I've been using this pen to study for finals. Normally I'm very specific about pens and will only use Pilot G2 since it writes so smoothly. But, I do really like the Pilot Acroball PureWhite pen shown above. It also writes smoothly; however, the ink isn't quite as dark as the G2. One benefit of the Acroball pen is that the ink does not smudge while you're writing. I'm a lefty so that is a big problem for me.

Rimmel London Stay Matte Mousse Foundation

I had never used this foundation before, but it was one of my favorite items in my Uni Vox Box! Only a small amount of the mousse foundation is necessary, and it completely eliminates shine on my face all day. The consistency feels thick, but when you apply it to your face it feels light and natural. The only problem I faced with my Stay Matte foundation was that the shade I was given was a little too light for my skin tone. I am still able to use it, but I definitely have to wear bronzer so I don't look too pale. I will definitely consider purchasing this foundation in a darker shade in the future.

NYC Expert Last Lipstick

This was probably my favorite item in my Uni Vox Box. I love playing with pink and red lipsticks because they can totally make your outfit. This Forever Fuchsia shade works well for both day and night looks if you want a pop of color. Even though the shade of pink is scarily similar to Barbie's shoes, don't be afraid that the hue is too immature or girly. With natural makeup, this pink lipstick will make your pout stand out for sure, without losing sophistication.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my favorite products!
