Boden Fashion Show Recap

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending a Boden fashion show at the Langham Hotel in Boston. My mum and I enjoyed delicious tea, sandwiches, scones and sweets while watching the show. We also had fun poking through the Boden pop-up shop. Many of the pieces were featured in the show, flaunting bright colors and patterns in classic silhouettes. Here are a few photos from the event:

One thing I especially enjoyed about the show was the use of real moms and children as models. Not only were the models' outfits impeccably styled, but they also looked comfortable and wearable in an everyday setting. The bright-colored pieces and patterns were playful yet sophisticated and modern, which was refreshing for a family clothing line. A few of my favorite pieces included the British Soldier printed Sweater, Jersey Jacquard Skirt and Mary Jane Heels, but look out for another post with more faves!

I wore a Gap fit and flare dress to the tea and show, or as my mum would say, my "big girl party dress." Since the fashion show was a family event in celebration of Prince George's 1st birthday, there were lots of little kiddos in attendance. That means there was lots of pink, purple, tulle and sequins. This dress is basically the adult version of that, so I guess I was on point with the dress code.

Overall the Boden fashion show made for a lovely afternoon, and I unknowingly ended up on the news that night because of it, ha! Be sure to check out Boden's new Autumn collection on their website!

Disclaimer: I received two complimentary teas for attending this event; however, all thoughts and opinions stated here are my own.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Under $200

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Under $150

In case you haven't heard already (avid online shoppers/blog readers this is probably old news), Nordstrom is currently holding their Anniversary sale until August 3rd! This is Nordstrom's biggest sale of the year, and they hardly ever happen, so if you're looking to splurge--now's the time. However, there are also many pieces for lower budgets. Above are a few sale items that are all under $200, many of which have been featured on All Dressed Up, Everywhere To Go and happen to be a few of my favorites.

Nars Blush Set - This beauty must-have may not have been featured on this blog, but it's one beauty product that I consistently buy. I usually use the 'Orgasm' shade, which is included in the set above. The blush is a pretty shade of shimmery pink that keeps you looking glowy.

Nordstrom Link Bracelet - Similar to my link bracelet featured in this post, the Nordstrom link bracelet pairs well with a chunky watch and can be worn on its own.

Kate Spade Watch - My Kate Spade silver watch has been featured many times on this blog (herehere and here) because I wear it all the time. It pairs very well with other jewelry! Although, it looks like this watch may have sold out during the sale, Kate Spade has a few other reduced price watches, as well.

Kate Spade Initial Necklace - This 'one in a million' initial pendant necklace makes for a great personalized gift. This Kate Spade one even says 'one in a million' on the back--adorable, right?

Mimi Chica Striped T-Shirt - Don't just think of purchasing splurge items at the Nordstrom sale! It's also a great time to stock up on staple items worn on the daily, like this striped tee.

BCBGeneration Peacoat - Or go ahead and splurge on a new coat before the weather changes and the winter coats are no longer on sale. This cobalt blue peacoat works as a perfect pop of color during the dull winter months.

Louise et Cie Over the Knee Boots - I received a pair of over the knee boots similar to the ones above for Christmas last year and got a ton of wear out of them. Throw them on with jeans, skirts and dresses and you've got a hot look. Mine are featured here and here for styling ideas.

Rebecca Minkoff 'Mini 5-Zip' Cross-body - This bag was featured in my Cross-body Crazy post when I was deciding on a bag for my travels in London, and now it's on sale! Gotta love a good 'grab and go' bag!

Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Vertical Zippy' Wallet - When my cloth wristlet wallet pretty much fell apart while I was studying abroad (I couldn't even zip it shut it was that broken), I knew it was time to invest in a nicer wallet that would survive me for longer than a couple years. I highly recommend Marc by Marc Jacobs for a well-made wallet that comes in neutrals and fun colors. Better yet, get it while it's lower in price!

Nike 'Free 5.0 TR Fit 4' Sneakers - A good pair of sneakers can be seriously expensive. Grab them on sale while you can!

H by Hudson 'Encke' Booties - Ankle booties are my fave because I can wear them with everything, and they have a little bit of a heel for some extra height that I always need. My look-alike Steve Madden pair have been featured a few times on this blog (here, here and here) for some styling ideas. It looks as though the Encke booties above have sold out, but these H by Hudson ones are still in stock!

What are you thinking of purchasing at the Nordstom Anniversary sale? Only one more week to shop!

Chartreuse Yellow Stripe + Boden Fashion Show Invite

Well, it's clear by the shining sun that these photos were not taken today. It's certainly been a sporadic, stormy last few days! One way to brighten up the clouds is wearing bright colors. This J.Crew Factory chartreuse yellow and white striped button-down certainly brings out the pop. Pair it with a summery, white eyelet mini and you've got a perfect day-to-night look for work or drinks with friends.

Another bonus to this outfit--it's budget friendly. All of the J.Crew Factory pieces were purchased on sale…like super on sale. A couple of weeks ago Factory button-downs were $19.99 in stores (I double-checked this with the sales associate to make sure it was true since that's crazy), accessories were 50% off and others items such as shorts and skirts were 30-40% off. J.Crew Factory usually has some great promotions, many of which have free shipping online, but I still get so excited when the sales go my way and I get some great deals. Many of the pieces in this outfit are reduced price right now so be sure to check them out!

Also, I'd like to invite you all to attend this free Boden fashion show at the Langham Hotel in Boston this Saturday, July 19th at 12pm.

Boden is a British clothing brand with women's, men's and junior collections, specializing in heritage-inspired style with a colorful, modern twist. The show is celebrating Prince George's 1st birthday so the whole family is welcome! After the show, attendees can peruse the Boden pop-up shop and enjoy an afternoon tea at the Langham for $34 per person (10% of proceeds benefiting No Kid Hungry). I will be attending, and I'd love to see you there! But if you can't make it, check my Instagram and Twitter for updates!

Thanks for reading!

'Red Wine and Blue' Sangria

Happy Fourth of July! Hope you're celebrating somewhere fun and trying to avoid Hurricane Arthur! Last weekend my mum made this 'red wine and blue' sangria for my brother's graduation party, and it was a pretty big hit. I figured it would be great for a patriotic weekend! The recipe is from the blog East Coast Creative.

Red wine (we used merlot)
Sliced strawberries

We used equal parts wine and Sprite for the sangria, but you could also do a 2:1 ratio for less wine (or more wine if you're feeling crazy). East Coast Creative also suggests alternating the strawberry and blueberry layers before pouring in the wine and Sprite, so that the fruity flavors blend evenly.

I will warn you that this sangria is fruity and sweet. So, if that's not your thing, this drink may not be the one for you. Otherwise this sangria could be the perfect last-minute addition to your Fourth of July weekend menu, since it's so easy and quick to make. I'd love to hear what you think in the comments section below!

Happy 4th!!
