Back To School Essentials

Back To School Essentials

It's that time of year again, and I still (after 3 years) feel like one of the very last people to be heading back to campus. Good news is I have more time to scour the shops online for my favorite fall picks! Above are a few 'back to school' essentials for all the college ladies. I've added a few professional pieces for those of you who are working or interning, too, since that is also what I'll be doing. But whether you're working or not, it's good to start incorporating nicer and more modest items into your wardrobe. You never know when a last-minute interview opportunity could come up!

A few staples I'm bringing with me this fall are a few pairs of blue and black skinny jeans, a couple pairs of tailored and cropped pants, lots of button downs and silk tops that can be dressed up or down, a few basic tees and sweaters, a casual jacket for when it gets cooler, a dress that serves for both work and play, and a variety of shoes, preferably a pair of booties, heels, flats and sneaks. Think of investing in versatile pieces you can wear for various occasions. The great thing about bringing both casual and professional clothing to college is that they can be mixed and matched in unexpected ways, so you'll always have outfits appropriate for work, studying and nights out.

I can't wait to head back to school for my senior year this year! Ahh crazy how the time flies! Pretty soon I'll be a real adult [insert the 'monkey covering its eyes' emoji]. Happy college move-in!

[Maxi]mizing Summer

August is quickly coming to a close, which is why I am maximizing my last few weeks of summer as much as possible [pun intended]. Last week I was in Maine on vacation with my family--my one full week of sun! And my light glowy tan is already fading… ugh so sad. Above are a few photos from my last vacation day in Ogunquit along the Marginal Way.

Now for the 'maxi' part of maximizing summer. This skirt has been my go-to all season, and I'll continue to wear it until fall officially hits. It is unbelievably comfortable as loungewear but can also be worn out and about. The blue and white pattern is my favorite part of this skirt. It definitely has a beach-y feel!

What is your favorite piece of summer clothing?

Mixing It Up

Just wanted to share a little summer outfit inspiration for pretty much any occasion. All of these pieces have been featured on here before, but I decided to mix them up. The ASOS daisy lace top was from my Daisy Daze post and is slightly cropped, believe it or not. It has just enough length to be tucked into skirts though, like this Madewell one featured in my Crop Tops & Coral post. I love clothes that I can easily throw together in a rush, especially when I have to catch a train to work! This photo was even taken at the train station…ha!
Happy Thursday and thanks for reading!
