2015.

The champagne bottles are popped and the confetti is long swept away, and now the question is…will you really keep the New Year's resolution you made at midnight? I have to say I didn't really think much about a "resolution" for 2015, but I do have a good feeling about this year. 2015 is big. It's my college graduation year (never thought that would come) and, consequently, a year for change and new beginnings. I actually couldn't be more excited! In order to tackle 2015, I've come up with a few "resolutions" or challenges for the year:
  • Stay guilt-free. This is a big one for me. I was reading an old Refinery29 article the other day about guilt and how about 96% of women in a UK-based study felt guilty daily. As I read it, I knew I had this problem--the feeling of not being able to enjoy myself because I feel guilty of not spending time doing other things, being with other people, etc. Refinery29 suggests focusing on the here and now and making a mental note of what you're doing right, rather than what you aren't doing. Hence, why this year I'm remaining guilt-free.
  • Read more. This one seems easy, and it is. Kind of. With long days and textbooks I actually have to read, I rarely take the time to read something I like. With only four more months of college left, this year I will make the time to read more books, magazines and blogs. If you have any suggestions, please comment below!
  • Be inspired. And stay inspired. With reading, comes inspiration (see above), so there's that. But being present wherever I go and whoever I'm with also helps. I've found it's too easy to get caught up in day-to-day routine, especially when I'm at school and don't have much time to spare. This year I will absorb my surroundings and as much culture as I can through books, movies, shows, exhibits, music, anything. Just because college is coming to a close does not mean I will stop learning.
These are just a few things I'm working on for 2015. I'm excited for the year and all it will bring. Here's to the New Year!
What are your goals and resolutions?
